As our lead designer and small business lead, Melissa has a unique talent for crafting content that is eye-catching and resonate with the client’s audience. Balancing her professional and personal life, Melissa spends her free time chasing after her adorable curly-haired toddler son and managing a small Etsy shop where she showcases her digital creations. She strongly supports shopping at small businesses and promoting local establishments.
Melissa is passionate about motherhood, breastfeeding, and prioritizing mental health in the workplace. She is a loving and supportive voice within our team communications whenever anyone on the team is struggling with motherhood and all that comes with being a working mom.
Looking back, Melissa isn’t exactly sure of the exact moment she discovered TME. She believes it happened when she came across one of Jennifer’s job ads through a fortunate hashtag encounter (insert cheesy hashtag pun). Melissa is an immensely talented designer and her passion for her clients and the content she creates continues to propel her forward. Her current role provides an outlet for her creative expression. Melissa thrives in her position on the TME team and has gradually realized that this job with these people is exactly where she’s meant to be.
"I often tell people that when I was younger, I didn't have a clear career path in mind. Now I understand it's because this job didn't exist back then."
When asked about motivation and passion for her work, Melissa points to the ever-evolving nature of social media as a primary driving force. She loves the challenge of capturing the clients and audiences attention through her designs. Melissa emphasizes the immense potential of social media in introducing people to new ideas and topics they might not have explored otherwise, especially when it comes to important and sometimes controversial subjects. Connecting with the client’s audience and making a meaningful impact through her designs brings her an incredible sense of fulfillment.
Beyond her creative work, Melissa embraces the work-from-home lifestyle. She cherishes the ability to strike a harmonious balance between her professional responsibilities and her role as a guiding force in her son’s life. Working from the comfort of her own home gives her the precious gift of time—time to create lasting memories and actively participate in her son’s growth and exploration. Melissa enjoys the best of both worlds: pursuing a career she’s incredibly proud of while fully embracing the joys and challenges of everyday life with her son.
As someone involved in marketing and branding, Melissa wants the public to understand the multifaceted nature of her field. She emphasizes that marketing and branding go far beyond creating visually appealing designs. To succeed in this field, one must take a comprehensive approach that includes storytelling, market research, and ensuring designs reflect the essence of a brand and its message.
"My job is much more than creating pretty pictures. To succeed, you need to take a well-rounded approach that includes storytelling, market research, and maintaining consistent brand communication."
When discussing her pet peeves, Melissa expresses frustration with the lack of seamless integration between different platforms. This becomes particularly annoying when trying to easily find trending audio from platforms for her client reels. These challenges can seem small and insignificant to those outside the scope of social media content creation, but those who manage multiple clients and multiple social platforms at a time understand that it is not as simple as pick a song and go!
Melissa’s current favorite color combination is a captivating blend of dark forest green and light sage green—a harmonious pairing that evokes a sense of tranquility and natural beauty. When it comes to fonts, she has a soft spot for Crimson Pro and Caitlin. Melissa admits preferring cursive and script fonts since her own cursive handwriting leaves much to be desired.
Melissa finds solace in her hobbies and interests outside of work, which provide an outlet for decompression. Recently, her family bought a Volkswagen Vanagon, which has become their go-to vehicle for day trips or weekend getaways. They cherish the opportunity to embark on adventures and create lasting memories with their 2-and-a-half-year-old son. Because of TME’s hybrid work schedule and freedom to work from anywhere, Melissa gets to spend quality time with family is where Melissa directs most of her focus and energy outside of work.
